Bigfoot Festival Metaline Falls WA 2024
Attended the Bigfoot festival in Metaline Falls Washington on June 15, 2024.
It is a town about 8 miles from the Canadian Border in heavily forested area of north eastern Washington State. The town's population as of the 2020 census was about 280 people. It was the 4th such festival. Got there early in the morning and people were beginning to drift in and fill the grounds. It is a 3 day event, and I attended on the second day. They had guest speakers and other activities throughout the festival.

    We’ve had 3 mini vans over the years. The Plymouth Voyager, Dodge Grand Caravan and the Chrysler Town and Country and we have loved all 3. Looking into getting the Pacifica when we do upgrade but have concerns about some of the transmission issues some people have complained about. Have you had any problems with your van at all? Oh, by the way, love your choice of music.

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1 29 днів тому

      I did extensive research on these Pacifica’s. From 2017 - to 2020. They had a lot of electrical issues. 2021 they had almost all of them cleared up. By 2022 very little issues and 2023 I was hoping that they would have them all cleared up. And so far I have 18,000 miles on mine with absolutely no issues. I owned 2019 Nissan rogue and the cruise control & transmission is smooth as silk. Not so with the Pacifica. It’s always shifting up or down on up and downhill terrain It was annoying at first, but I’ve gotten used to it and I don’t mind it at all now! Compared to other cars, the transmission could be annoying to some people but, like I say, I have gotten used to it and I don’t mind it at all. You just go with the flow. The Pacifica rides on the clouds, drives like a dream and is very quiet. I have the all wheel drive and I have had it in the snow because we need all wheel drive in my part of the country and it beats the heck out of putting snow tires on. In town I’m getting about 18 miles per gallon and on the highway depending on terrain and wind conditions. I have range from 25 to 30 miles per gallon extremely happy with the fuel economy. By the way, you probably already know this, but they are not minivans. They are full-size vehicles with awesome amount of room. Especially storage underneath the stow and go seats.

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1 29 днів тому

      Also, something to think is that some of the higher and minivans do not come with a spare tire. They have alternative options for you if you get a flat tire. I have had only three flat tires in my entire life. I believe starting in 2022 they did not offer a spare tire on any of the trim levels. However, I did buy a spare tire kit and install it in my 2023 Pacifica. There is a big controversy over running a spare tire on all-wheel-drive vehicles that is not the same size. Anyway, this is all stuff to contemplate.

If you live in a place that hot in summer, or have just never been to Washington, I can strongly recommend it as an absolutely amazing place to ride. The western side is green, with mold temps. Mt. Yes, I had to dealership install the clutch. I probably could’ve done it myself, but I did not want to. I have a little more than 15,000 miles on it and it still works great. Never touched any adjustment. I am a very gentle rider. I think they charge me somewhere around two to $300 to have it installed. I’m glad I had them installed though.

      I agree. My wife likes this set up also. However, before I got new DK custom next Gen 13 inch tri glide shocks. It was a miserable ride for her because the OEM shocks knocked the crap out of her on really bad bumps. It got to the point where I was just going to sell the motorcycle. Then after the new shock install, it was a difference between night and day for the ride for her. Now we are keeping the motorcycle. The shocks were $1000 and I installed them myself. Just something to keep in mind.

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1 Місяць тому

      I put the midstep on before the comfort lift and new DK custom 13 inch next GEN shocks. The shocks and the comfort lift made a world of difference. Like night and day. I was almost considering selling my motorcycle because of the rough riding. Now I no longer am considering selling the bike because the shocks made the difference. Putting shocks on after the midstep was installed made no different whatsoever. It’s still a wonderful thing to have. However, I will tell you that after I installed the comfort lift kit and the next GEN 13 inch shocks. My rear end went down 1/8 of an inch. I was very careful to measure before and after. The reason is that the OEM shocks are stiffer the next GEN shocks are softer.

    You should know if you do this for AWD Pacifica the spare must be the exact same height in size as the wheels that are on the van or you can or will damage the AWD system, transfer case or transmission!

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1 Місяць тому

      Oh not so! These spare tires are designed (recommended not to) go more than 50 miles. After 50 miles could subject the AWD drive train to damage. These spare tires are supplied with earlier Pacific models. Thereafter, they quit supplying them to reduce weight so as to increase fuel economy to meet government requirements and to cut costs of an already expensive automobile. They supplied the newer Pacificas with self sealing tires in case you ran over an object that would puncture through the rubber. Hence the name “self sealing “. If your Pacifica came without self sealing tires, then they supplied you with a tire inflator kit that would inject a fluid to seal and pump up the tire. Many automakers even now supply small donut tires with an AWD vehicle. There is always a mileage limit on how long you can drive on the donut tire (that is not the same size)on an AWD before reaching a point of damaging the AWD system.

    Crazy question, but if i use the clutch as normal, will the auto feature still function? My two issues are stalling on hills and stalling on turns. I did not start riding until i was in mid 40s, recently, and have never operated a manual. I am not getting the clutch control down, and am looking for something to eliminate issues. I do not want to get out of the habit of using clutch just in case. Example: If i am on a steep hill, i have clutch held in, i begin to take off, let off brakes and roll on throttle, does my holding in clutch matter? Will the bike hold without rolling back as i gas?

    • @windsurfed1
      @windsurfed1 Місяць тому

      When stopped, and in first gear with your hand off the clutch lever. All you need to do is roll on the throttle and away you go, and then you use the clutch lever to shift up through the rest of the gears. If you were in sixth gear, and came to a stop, the clutch would disengaged by itself, but you would still be in sixth gear. Normally a person would shift down while coming to a stop, using the clutch lever, Until first gear is reached, and pull the clutch lever in. in the case of the recluse clutch when you reach first gear and came to our stop you would not need to pull that clutch lever in. You can if you want, but if you hold the clutch and give it it will not go anywhere just like a normal clutch. The recluse clutch works superbly on hills. You’re just sitting there on the hill with your foot on the brake and when the light turns green, you just give it gas and away you go with no rolling backwards or stalling the engine. Then you continue to use the clutch lever to shift up through the gears. Hope this kind of answer your question. I really really enjoy the recluse clutch. on these tri glides they’re kind of a heavy duty clutch. The lever is hard to pull in, least it was for me especially at stop sign and stop light. It made my ride in hundred percent more enjoyable.
